Present

Being present.

Not just online.

Intentional.

Here. In this conversation. Now.

I see it everywhere, developing countries, developed countries, cities, villages, towns…you name it.

Heads down, eyes focused, two thumbs tapping away to get the correct emojis to refer to a sentence, are words not enough anymore?

What even are English classes? Might as well add emoji interpretations to this years educational courses while we try and figure out how to educate our future leaders while still trying to make sure no one is left behind in this technological world.

Dinner time.

Church time.

Family time.

Game time.

Birthdays.

Weddings.

Funerals.

When was the last time you attended one or more of them without getting out your device to “take a snap”, add to your “story”, “tweet”, “go live”…or anything else that required you to share that moment with everyone else but the very people you’re right there with?

I get it, it’ll only take a minute, it’s just for “this” person or “that” person who couldn’t make it plus everyone is doing it so, why not?

Why not? Because you only capture a moment to replay it over and over again as if you’re watching a movie you weren’t even part of when in actuality you could’ve enjoyed the moment right there, in reality, being present.

Try it.

Being present.

Not just online.

Intentional.

Here. In this conversation. Now.
