Wow. Wow. Wow.

This place is incredible. Beautiful. Serene. Busy but yet peaceful. The lifestyle reminds me a little of home but this architecture, these statues, these gods, it’s all so unfamiliar.

New, the sounds, the motorbikes, the cars, the smell, the statues of their gods, all new, at least to me. Well maybe not that new. I’ve seen it in movies, experienced some sliver of this in CA but not this grand, not so in my face, I guess.

But I’m in awe. Speechless, really. It’s March 2020 and I met up with my girl from high school in the middle of a pandemic. He’s good. There was clearly nothing stopping this trip and now we’re here. Relaxing in Bali. Wow.

So here’s the thing, I haven’t seen my girl in almost 10 years! A whole dang decade. I mean we still stayed in contact, praise the Lord for technology, right? But wow, this is incredible. We haven’t seen each other since we were 18 and now we’re well into our late 20s, married, living our own lives and still God allowed us to plan this trip and actually follow through with it. Come on now, you can’t tell me that traveling when the world health organization just declared the world is facing a pandemic is nothing short a miracle, right?! Right! Because this is a miracle. This opportunity to be here with my girl and these amazing black women is a miracle. And all I can continue to say is wow.

It’s just been a little over 24 hours and I can’t even begin to express how much I’m already learning from these women and this country and this tourist hot spot. This villa is amazing by the way, I mean don’t get me wrong, we have some amazing spots in the islands but I don’t think I’ve come across a villa quite like this for a price like we got for 6 bedrooms with their own baths, a pool, dining area that looks like the main table of a wedding reception, and a lounge area with a dang projector screen. Oh yeah, Father provided indeed. Again, wow.

I can’t begin to imagine what the rest of this trip has in store but if these few hours are just a glimpse then I am definitely not ready. But stay tuned, I’ll let you know how it goes…
