Fear

What is your greatest fear?

I watched a youtube video a couple of days ago where a hollywood actor was being asked questions by his wife and one of the questions was: what is your greatest fear?

I was expecting him to answer like everyone else, something like “well, you know, I don’t really have one but I am afraid of…” but he didn’t. This man replied with “I don’t have one” and he proceeded to explain. Now, I thought he was trying to be very macho like and so forth but as he proceeded to explain why he had no fears, I realized that I should also have the same answer to that question because I too believe in the same God he was referring to.

Here’s the thing, when this actor said he didn’t have any fears, it wasn’t from this cocky, “I’m better than everyone else” type of attitude. Instead it was from a genuine place of trust. Trust in the God he said he believed in. Earlier in the Q&A he mentions his relationship with God, he went on to describe instances where God told him who his wife would be and journeying with God in this life. I’m no expert but he pretty much sounded like he believed in God and he’s a Christian. So then when he explains why doesn’t have any fears, he simply says that he doesn’t have any because his God says that he has not been given the spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind, so he chooses to take that literally and therefore has no fears. WHAT?!

He literally just quoted 2 Timothy 1:7 and your girl was convicted.

I read that verse all the time, I say it over my life everyday because of the different interactions I have in my job, and yet when asked what is your greatest fear, I am so quick to think of a list of worst possible outcomes in my life and try to figure out which one is the worst.

I was so convicted by this mans’ response that I sought the Lord, apologized for not believing in His word and now choose to walk in the same confidence of that word in the literal sense so much so that I pray the next time I’m asked that question, I too can say I don’t have one.

So, what’s your greatest fear?
