A weekend getaway with some friends to celebrate life and a quarter of a century for an amazing entrepreneur.
If you ever get the chance to visit Fiji, make sure to make a stop here, if you live in Fiji, sis, get out there when this whole containment stretch comes to an end.
So married people, let me holla at you for a minute. Even if you’re single or marriage is the farthest thing from your mind at the moment, keep reading…
We all have different people in our lives but how intentional are we in our friendships? There’s a pretty amazing group of young married couples that my husband and I are connected to and we learned early that we have to be intentional about our friendships.
Also before you keep reading, girrrrl, let me just make something very clear, my husband and I are not at all experts in this married life journey but I think there are some learnings that will help give some insight.
We went on this trip to have some fun and get to know these couples a bit better, and that we did. It was such a blast and I appreciate being surrounded by couples who are so authentically themselves.
A bit of a back story, before we got married, my husband lived in a house with his flatmates for about a year or so, all guys, working, studying, out there living their best lives. Those flatmates ultimately became family to him, so much so that one of them became his best man at our wedding.
They is family. And therefore, we is family. My husband was the first to get married of the lot and while I was super stoked to be Mrs B, there are times when Mrs B was second to the Castle guys (insert all the laughs because Mrs B ain’t second to no one except Jesus and his mama haha); but this raises an important part of being married.
BROTHERS, his community.
I’m grateful for my circle of strong, funny, God fearing, sometimes ratchet, beautiful women. Some married, some single, some in them entanglements (just kidding), some dating, others engaged but all influence my life in one way or another.
And that’s why my husband’s community and brotherhood matters. Birds of the same feathers flock together and all of that good stuff so sis, if you ain’t married yet, pray for the brotherhood your future husband is coming from because it impacts his life in more ways than one.
And if you’re already married, sis, be intentional about that brotherhood, pray for them, get to know them and their wives if they married, get together and go on a trip. Whatever you do girl, don’t disregard it.
