Reading a book by John C. Maxwell with a group of amazing women who inspire, stretch and conquer.
I just finished a mastermind course on another book of his called Leadershift.
And now we’re here.
After exploring these types of topics:
leadership
ladder climbing
living intentionally
dreams
good intentions aren’t good enough
…there’s really no going back.
I don’t know whether it’s a sense of awareness or a sense of purpose or a mixture of both with a dash of being completely out of my element but I greatly appreciate this grace that has been extended to me from such depths of these women.
There’s a lot to unpack and even as I type this out, I have a pretty good feeling that I’m just cracking the surface.
I expected to read this book and go through the questions like I would normally do and just ponder some thoughts here and there. But chiiiilllle was I gratefully wrong, there’s something about reading this now, here in 2021 that puts things into a different perspective.
I mean if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that nothing is secure, nothing remains constant and if we don’t choose to live each day intentionally, we miss out on what could be the greatest moment of our lives.
Living intentionally is not a new concept but I don’t think I ever gave a lot of attention to it. I mean, we all sort of know that in order to get something done, we have to be intentional about it, right?
So, that’s really what struck me about this, even though I knew that, reading a book like this really makes you question a lot of the different things we do and why we do them.
Questions like, what makes you cry? What do you dream about? What makes you sing? What is your “why” in life? What is your story? These are the type of questions this book asks and I think it’s really important that as individuals who make up a part of the communities and societies we live in, we owe it to ourselves to take some time to reflect on these questions.
Don’t get me wrong, these are some deep personal questions that are not easy to reconcile but when I listen to the stories and the learnings of these ladies, I’m rest assured of something very cool: it’s okay to not have all the answers to these questions all figured out but there’s a difference between having good intentions and living intentionally.
So which do you choose today?
