The shocking death of Miss USA 2019 affected many to say the least.
Cheslie Kryst was 30 years old, an attorney and correspondent for the entertainment news program “Extra”. Sis appeared to have it all and it was beautiful & inspiring to follow. She championed mental health & made pageant history in 2019 when she was one of three black women to win the top beauty pageant titles at the same time.

I’m pretty sure no one thought that the young woman described above would be confirmed as the woman who jumped from a luxury 60 story building in New York.
This was just one more public death by suicide in recent days that has caught my attention and it’s worth writing a short piece about how vital it is for us to check on one another!
Fam! I’m usually not one to just sulk in the negativity that is so readily available to us on our hand held devices but sis, we need to be better!
Social media, the internet, and all these technologies that are initially presented to help us connect with another, especially during this pandemic, are great, don’t get me wrong, but if you ever feel alone, please believe that IT IS A LIE!
That feeling, I mean, and even the thoughts that might plague you to say that “you’re not enough”, “they don’t care about you”, they’re too busy living their lives to care about you”, “you failed too many times”. S T O P!
I know how quick those thoughts can snowball into other thoughts and have us feeling a certain type of way. If you’ve never been in that dark place, prraaaaiiisseee! Sis, take your blessing and look around at those who you “think” are doing okay or are out here living their best life because they posted a cute picture on IG or just did a fun Tik Tok video.
A simple “Hey, how are you?” could seriously make the biggest impact you never thought of.
Check in, don’t ever just assume.
You are purposed and you are protected.
