To say I was excited to celebrate my husband’s first Father’s Day would be an understatement.
Mr B and I have known each other for a little over a decade now. We’ve dated, not dated (break up sounds too dramatic at this point haha), got engaged, and now married on year 5. For sure we’re babies in this married life so when I found out I was pregnant last year, one of the first thoughts I had was how grateful I am to have a man who I can’t wait to witness be a father.
The word of God is not short of expressing how children are a great blessing. I could not agree more. Our boys are only three months old and the way I’ve witness my husband be the father God purposed him to be is incredible.
We celebrated his first Father’s Day this year with baked goodies, an amazing lunch, a few gifts and a word of encouragement that blessed even me.
There’s something pure and special about being a part of a man’s journey to and through fatherhood as his wife and the woman who ultimately births his children.
Here’s a part of my sentiments to him:
I gave birth to your two sons but your steps will be the footsteps that they follow.
I will be their mom but you will be the man they want to be like when they grow up.
I will be the one they want for soft cuddles but it’s in your arms they will seek protection and learn how to provide for their own families.
I will make a house their home but you are the head of this family that they will look up to you.
I am their mother but you my love have been chosen to be the king that raises kings.
With wherever you may be in your relationship with your own dad, I pray you know that you are purposed and protected by the good good father.
Happy Father’s Day for these blue isles.
