Where did the time go? It felt like yesterday we just came home from the hospital but here you are, my kings, my sons, my blessings, a year old now and filling my life with a kind of love I didn’t even know was missing.
To the new first time mom, especially twin moms, you are made for this! I know it’s hard, I know that you want to cry and maybe like me you did, I know you feel like you have to do or be it all, I know that the days seem long and the nights even longer, I know that it feels like your hormones have an agenda to just mess with you at this point, I know that you think you’re going to explode trying to maintain all the other relationships in your life, I know that you think the village doesn’t really want to help (it’s a lie, they do and they will, just ask), I know that it’s new, it’s exhilarating, it’s exciting and exhausting all at the same time. It’s a whole new world and you are meant for it!
To the supportive husband, thank you! It’s not enough but that’s all we can say to express the thousands of eloquent words we want to utter to you. We see you, we appreciate you, the hard work you do before you even make contact with us, the effort you make to be physically and mentally present, the work you’re putting in to recreate memories and lead us through new ones because some generational actions don’t need to be repeated with us, thank you. We love you. We know that having our own husband and wife time and activities may not be practical right now but we can get creative. We know that this is a new shift for you too, thank you. It’s a whole new world and you are meant for it!
To the village, you are part of the reasons my sons are twelve months and counting. I cannot thank you enough. The laughter, the teaching moments, the phrases, the prayers, the fun, the joy, you bring it all with you in your short and sweet embrace. We need the village, I need the village and oh how grateful I am that God would bless us with some amazing, supportive, joyful individuals. You speak life, you cook, you clean, you honour, you pray, you carry, you play, you hold their hands and their hearts. I am indebted to the village because truly it takes a village to raise a child, let alone two.

How did my sweet baby boys become sweet one year old boys?! The adventures have truly begun and it’s been an absolute privilege to be their mom. As crazy as it is to think that they’re growing up way too fast, celebrating my boys in their masi attire, wild one cakes and contagious laughter has to be one of the best parts of 2023 so far. Cheers to these kings!
